You’ve passed your test, what next?

No matter how long it takes you, hopefully you’ll pass your driving test! And when you do you might be thinking great, now what?

Getting your first car, the insurance may be high but to counter balance this and to get some more practice on motorways and hazards you may not have come into contact with on your normal lessons, you should think about completing your Pass Plus.

The Pass Plus Scheme is a scheme exclusively ran in the UK and is aimed at new drivers who have passed in the last 12 months. It is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours but could take longer depending on your confidence and skill. You’ll need a pass plus registered and approved driving instructor (ADI) to go with you like we have here at Homers Driving School.

What does the pass plus cover?

The pass plus training takes at least 6 hours and has 6 modules which cover driving in: Town, all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriage ways and finally on motorways.

Some of the modules may have to be completed based on theory as it is not always the chance that you will be driving in certain weathers.  It is now legal for learners to go on motorways with an advanced driving instructor, however this is not compulsory, so some newly qualified drivers might not be confident on these roads. Which is another aspect of the pass plus which is heavily covered.

You must apply for your own Pass Plus certificate if you want one. When you have completed your training and passed with us at Homers Driving School. Even if you haven’t passed your test with us at Homers you can still apply to do your pass plus with us as long as it is within 12 months of you passing your driving test.
